USE CASES

Use cases

01

Number pages after a cover

Leave the first page unnumbered and start visible numbering from 1 on page 2.

02

Company header and footer

Place a department name at the top and a document label at the bottom while keeping them clear of page numbers.

03

CONFIDENTIAL watermark

Apply a low-opacity diagonal text watermark in the center so the original content remains readable.

EXPERT POST

Practical checks for PDF numbering and watermarks

Focus on cover-page offsets, header/footer collisions, mixed page sizes, transparent logos, and consistency between preview and final PDF.

Display page and starting number are separate

A report can show its first visible number on PDF page 2 while starting that number at 1.

Position is calculated per page

Mixed portrait, landscape, A4, and Letter pages need placement based on each page size rather than one fixed coordinate.

Do not silently remove overlapping slots

If numbering and footer use the same area, users should adjust position or margin instead of having one element disappear automatically.

Use opacity that preserves readability

A watermark should be visible enough to identify the document while keeping underlying text and graphics readable.

Preserve transparent PNG alpha and aspect ratio

Logo watermarks should not be stretched and transparent backgrounds should remain transparent.

Use the same model for preview and output

Representative preview and final PDF should share the same overlay placement rules.

A watermark is not DRM

A visual watermark can label a document but does not technically prevent copying or editing.

Save output separately from the source

Keep the original PDF unchanged so users can regenerate with different settings safely.
