Use the pixel, PPI, and physical-size relationship

Actual pixel count and target print size matter more than metadata alone. Compare required pixels and effective PPI on the same basis.
PIXELS / PPI

Core formula

Print width (in)=pixel width÷PPI and print height (in)=pixel height÷PPI. With the same pixels, higher PPI means a smaller physical print.

Required pixels

Required pixels=target inches×PPI. A4 210×297mm at 300 PPI is approximately 2480×3508px.

EFFECTIVE PPI

Effective PPI

For existing pixels printed at a chosen physical size, effective PPI=pixels÷inches. It shows the density available without adding pixels.

PPI ≠ DPI

PPI vs DPI

PPI describes image pixel density; DPI describes printer dot capability. They may be mixed conversationally but are different concepts.

ASPECT RATIO

Aspect ratio

3000×2000px is 3:2. A different paper ratio can require cropping, margins, or distortion, so check the ratio warning.
