PRACTICAL GUIDE

Practical PDF security and metadata rules

Set or remove an opening password and inspect, edit, or remove PDF title, author, subject, and keyword metadata.
Security scope

Opening-password scope

The base security feature is the password required to open a PDF. Advanced print/copy/edit permission restrictions are not included.

Password removal

Removal requires the current password

Password removal works only when you already know the correct password and have authority to modify the document.

Verify result

Success requires re-verification

Protected output is checked again for password behavior, and unlocked output is checked for password-free opening.

Info types

Document Info and XMP differ

Title, Author, Subject, Keywords and XMP can disagree, so full metadata removal checks both areas.

Removal scope

Metadata removal is not sanitization

It does not remove personal data from page content, comments, attachments, hidden layers, OCR text, or redaction targets.

Signatures

Keep signed originals

Re-saving or changing encryption can invalidate certificate-based digital signatures. Keep the original signed PDF.

Password safety

Passwords stay in browser memory

The implementation does not put passwords in URLs, localStorage, sessionStorage, or analytics payloads.

Local only

Sensitive documents stay local

Contracts and certificates are processed without an external upload workflow.

No. It does not guess, crack, or bypass passwords.

The base scope is an opening password. Advanced permission restrictions are excluded.

05What can I change besides title and author?+

Subject and Keywords can be edited; Creator, Producer, dates, and XMP presence can be inspected as advanced information.
