HOW TO USE

How to use

  1. 01

Choose Net amount or VAT-inclusive total as the calculation basis.

  2. 02

Confirm the default 10% rate and change it only when a reference calculation is needed.

  3. 03

Enter the amount to see Net Amount, VAT, and Total Amount immediately.

  4. 04

For VAT-inclusive totals, the tool divides by 1.1 at the default rate instead of simply subtracting 10%.

  5. 05

Use Reverse Tax Rate to derive the effective rate from a net amount and VAT, then copy the summary if needed.

  6. 06

When comparing the result with an invoice or quote, confirm that net amount and VAT are stated on the same basis.

VAT FORMULA

VAT calculation essentials

The calculator separates net-to-total and inclusive-total reverse formulas so the calculation direction stays explicit.
EXCLUDED

VAT excluded

VAT = net amount × rate; total = net amount + VAT. At 100,000 and 10%, VAT is 10,000 and total is 110,000.

INCLUDED

VAT included

Net amount = total ÷ (1 + rate); VAT = total − net amount. At 110,000 and 10%, net amount is 100,000.

10 / 110

VAT inside a total

At 10%, the VAT component of an inclusive total is total×10/110, not total×10%.

RATE

Reverse rate

When net amount and VAT are known, effective rate = VAT ÷ net amount × 100.

ROUNDING

Display rounding

Internal math keeps precision while the KRW display starts at 0 decimals and allows up to 2 decimals.

SCOPE

Not tax payable

Final tax payable can include input-tax and filing rules, so it must be distinguished from this transaction VAT calculation.

Frequently asked questions

01What is the VAT on a net amount of 100,000?+

At the default 10% rate, VAT is 10,000 and the total is 110,000.

02What is the net amount in a VAT-inclusive total of 110,000?+

110,000÷1.1=100,000 net amount, with 10,000 VAT.
