TIME ZONE GUIDE

How to compare world time accurately

Keep one instant fixed in UTC and project it through IANA time-zone rules so DST and date boundaries remain explicit.
IANA

Use regional time-zone IDs

The tool uses IDs such as Asia/Seoul and America/New_York instead of treating a fixed UTC offset as a region.

DST

Apply DST for the selected date

A city can have different UTC offsets across the year, so the offset is calculated at the selected instant.

DATE

Show date boundaries with the time

The same instant may be the previous or next calendar day in another city.

OFFSET

Preserve 30- and 45-minute offsets

India, Nepal, Eucla, Chatham and other non-integer offsets are kept to the minute.

MEETING

Intersect every working-hour window

Each city starts at 09:00–18:00 by default and can be edited before the common interval is calculated.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

01Why can the time difference change by season?+

Regional clock-change rules such as DST can change a city’s offset on different dates.

02Are UTC and a time zone the same thing?+

No. UTC is a time reference; a time zone defines regional local-time rules.

03Can I compare several cities at once?+

Yes. You can compare up to 12 selected cities at the same instant.

04Can it find meeting times?+

Yes. It finds intervals where all selected cities are inside their configured working hours.

05Is DST applied automatically?+

Yes. Browser Intl applies IANA time-zone rules for the selected date and the tool calculates the corresponding UTC offset and DST state.

06Are my city and time inputs uploaded?+

No. Core calculations run locally in the current browser.
